On Webcams, Bouncing-baby-boys and The Borg

marianmys2pidsch
I was viewing this girl's webcam for an hour or so. She's in my friends list but I don't remember how she got there. I tried sending her a message a few times but she wasn't responding so I just gave up. It wsn't like I was secretly hoping for her to take her clothes off or something... Nevermind. :)

And so I come to an end of another so-so day. Generally uneventful except for a message I got from Joanne this morning about Kate being in labor (at the time of this writing, Kate's probably resting and nursing her bouncing baby boy). :) I'll probably join the gals when they come visit her sometime soon.

As uneventful as it was, the thing me and KV had been toiling over for the past several months is now out. They delivered the copies to the office this morning. Haven't been hearing any complaints about it so far. Except for that one about a defective logo. One of the advertisers was complaining that their logo did not come out right in one of the pages. And would you like to know just how big their logo is on the said page? roughly 4mm²! It wasn't even the size of a 5-centavo coin! How tight-assed can one get?!

Sorry. I have to calm down. Now like I said in an earlier post, just when you think everything's A-OK, something would eventually come up. The Borg Queen would never, ever approve of such a thing. She would only demand "perfection." One could only wish for the "Collective" to come and assimilate us all. Only then I would get my Borg name and utter the words "I am [insert Borg name here] of the Borg. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated." *Aside: Is there a Web site where they generate a Borg name for you somewhere? If you guys know of one, do let me know. Thanks.*

Excuse me for that sudden burst of "geekiness." I didn't know I had it in me. I think I've killed enough time tonight for me to start headin' home. I'd probably just entertain myself with the first season episodes of Sponge Bob Square Pants that I borrowed from a cousin. Wish I had some "chongkee" to go with it, though. *sigh*

Homo-Erotica

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Done on sketchbook paper with a Mongol No. 2 pencil (Sepia tone applied in Photoshop) Inspired by a "Slumber Party" DVD. ;-D

I thought I'd start with my drawing-a-day post. But I don't think I can commit myself to a daily illustration at the moment since I don't have my computer at home yet. Maybe I could (initially) make it a-drawing-a-week for now and this is my first installment. I guess its pretty much straightforward to need an explanation. Enjoy. :)

And we're down to three...

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Did some cleanup at the office... Spic-and- span...

The girls officially moved to another office today. It's not like they left the company but in a way, that's what actually is happening. They helped me out in cleaning a bit early on but I did most of it on my own so I took a picture of my fine work. It won't be as noisy and crowded as before but I think it'd still be a most fun office.

And now we're down to three. We're probably be getting a sales assistant sometime soon but that's it for now. I really don't know what to expect of this. As much as I try to be optimistic about all this, I can't help getting that feeling of dread.

I havent the slightest clue on how I'm going to handle all this. Aside from the fact that entering this business was the first life-altering decision I have ever made, I've subconsciously entered the business world on the notion that I wouldn't be getting my hands dirty on the "real" business stuff. It was a good thing that I trusted my partner to handle all that. Which would leave me doing what I do best: design.

Now I liked it before when this partner of mine "trusted" what I do and my judgements. But then the inevitable happens. People do change. And in this case, its a drastic one. And all this change is happening in direct proportion to what the company that we put up is going through. Growing pains. From a company of three to a company of almost fifty in a span of a little over two years. We're getting too big inside our skin.

Need I mention that with a growing business comes bigger profit. A flipside to that is the growing accountabilty to clients and investors. It just a matter of playing the cards right. Like I said earlier, I "trusted" my partner to do that. A lot of people were trusting him. And for a time he was handling things really well.

I don't know if he got it too much into his head that he's doing all these great things, and he had good people working for him. Then all of a sudden he wanted things done his way. Done solely his way. He wouldn't ask for anybody's opinion. He didn't trust anyone anymore. And that included me.

And I just went along with all this. I'd even go as far as defend the guy to our employees and make them understand that all he's doing is for the good of the company. Then at some point I just quit making up excuses for the guy. Apparently my patience would go only as far. And with the way this guy's brain is working right now, I'd probably get slapped with the office "code of professional conduct" in misuse of office resources if he knew about this.

Anyway, I think I already said too much and I'm tired and hungy. I just hope everything works out fine. If not, I would have to make another life-altering decision sometime soon.

My workstation. Not quite as spic- and- span as I wanted it to be but I'll work on it. At least now I have a phone.

Audio slave...

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I'm in a dilemma. I have accumulated around 200 music albums in my collection and they're all in audio casette format. I haven't really had a casette tape player in years so my collection has been sitting there gathering mold.

I could:

1) Buy a decent enough tape player. Have each one recorded into my computer's hard drive and have it ripped into MP3 format. Burn it into audio CD format in the future. Quite troublesome and time consuming.

2) Buy a decent enough tape player. Buy a portable hard disk-based audio player which rips directly to MP3 or whatever format from any audio source. Quite expensive but less troublesome.

or

3) Have my friend rip it for me directly on her portable audio player and I'll just treat her to lunch or something. It might just work...

TV is NOT my friend...

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
This thing conked out on me last night. It just decided that it didn't want to work (I probably just forgot to charge its batteries, but then it's always more convenient to blame it on the machine). I could've used the old reliable pen and paper to write down my thoughts or even draw something but it would be a big hassle working in the dark. The dark helps me relax. Helps me think.

I was so mad when I got home last night. Mad about a lot of things. Mad for lots of reasons. Reasons I may not even know or am aware of. And for the life of me, I do not understand why when it comes to this one person, I have the shortest fuse. I explode. But I do not hate this person. Not at all. You could even say that this person occupies a special place in my heart. Does familiarity breed contempt? It may, in some cases. But I don't believe it's true in this one.

I know it's not right and I have to apologize. It's wrong for me to take it out on this person.

Maybe we just need to have a long overdue talk.

This song sounded strangely familar...

7 Seconds
Youssou Ndour & Neneh Cherry

Boul ma sene, boul ma guiss madi re nga fokni mane
Khamouma li neka thi sama souf ak thi guinaw
Beugouma kouma khol oaldine yaw li neka si yaw
Mo ne si man, li ne si mane moye dilene diapale
Roughneck and rudeness,
We should be using, on the ones who practice wicked charms
For the sword and the stone
Bad to the bone
Battle is not over
Even when it’s won
And when a child is born into this world
It has no concept
Of the tone the skin is living in
It’s not a second
7 seconds away
Just as long as I stay
I’ll be waiting
It’s not a second
7 seconds away
Just as long as I stay
I’ll be waiting x3
Changer
7 seconds away
Just as long as I stay
I’ll be waiting
It’s not a second
7 seconds away
Just as long as I stay
I’ll be waiting x3
And when a child is born into this world
It has no concept
Of the tone the skin is living in
And there’s a million voices
And there’s a million voices
To tell you what she should be thinking
So you better sober up for just a second
7 seconds away
Just as long as I stay
I’ll be waiting
It’s not a second
7 seconds away
Just as long as I stay
I’ll be waiting
It’s not a second
7 seconds away
Just as long as I stay
I’ll be waiting

I don't mean to be a prude, but I honestly think the "MTV Generation" shouldn't be seeing this. (or maybe they should?)

Behind the lens again...

Yesterday, after what seemed an eternity, we head off to the distant urban jungle on the borders of Pasig and Cainta to shoot this guy. Tired and lost amidst the nauseating hot pink and electric blue MMDA overpasses, bridges and male urinal booths, we braved the Marikina, Antipolo and Cainta traffic. Just thought I'd put this down. :-D

Later...
